I'll poke around but in OSX I'm not sure you can make .txt files. That doesn't sound right of course but I have attempted it before if I recall correctly. Anyone have input? Post it here please.

Do you have a save-as pulldown option for Save As "Text Only With Line Breaks"? I recall that might have been a workable setting.

There was a setting in the preferences that you can toggle from .rtf to .txt.

Thanks for the help. Sorry for the inconvenience.

If you're using TextEdit (the OSX replacement for SimpleText), there's a "make plain text" command in the "format" menu at the top of the screen (or command-shift-T). If you're using a third-party text editor, just poke around a bit; you'll find it somewhere.

Looks like this has already been resolved, but if TextEdit isn't your thang, I'd recommend TextWrangler from Bare Bones Software (http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/index.shtml). I used their BBEdit Lite for years and it never let me down. Good stuff all around.
